how to hook up two computers on one router?

A friend gave me her old computer because she bought a new one. I want to hook up the computer she gave me to the router I am using on my computer so i can have internet access on the other computer as well. is it as simple as hooking an Ethernet cable to the back of my router to the other computer and installing the program for my dsl on the other computer,or is there more involved? thanks!!

Yes, it's that simple. In fact you shouldn't even need the CD if you know how to set the network interface up.

Well, I asked because if the older computer had Windows ME on it, I would have told him to use it as a door stop while he carried in a different computer with an OS that actually works...

just hook em up, there's a good chance that as soon as you fire up internet explorer that it will auto detect the settings and you'll be good to go

If it doesn't make sure that the "detect proxy settings:" box is checked in the internet settings.
