i'm 23, still single, fall on my pop's policy still. clean record (rear ended when 16, one diverted ticket @ 20). was paying 1800/year @ allied, switched to hawkeye and it dropped to ~757/year.

getting married this june. she has no record, just got her license for pete's sake. got a few quotes and it's looking to be around 1100 - 1300 a year with both of us w/o any other vehicles (yet). dunno how it's all going to work b/c i'm keeping my ks DL, she's got a NY DL, we'll reside in NY for 3 to 3 1/2 years until i finish school then we're moving back to ks. my registration is staying at home, i don't want to screw with this NYS insanity w/ registration, etc... blah.

I really am jealous. I pay ~$1300/yr. here in MA for zero comprehensive coverage for my own vehicle (only things my truck is covered for are towing and glass), maximum medical coverage for all parties. That is with MetLife and 1 accident 1 ticket, age 20, my own policy.

Don't skimp on the medical coverage. It could come back to haunt you in the event something terrible happens.

My parents have the same issue. shes never had a ticket or an at fault accident, hes on the verge of losing his license one more ticket before june this year and he will. but anyway as a thought they ended up getting two policies and it was cheaper than a joint policy. you may want to look into that. but I have kemper ins. with my 01 250sd and my wifes toyota camry. both full coverage. and we pay about 1400 a year. would of been cheaper if my old f150 didnt do $1500.00 worth of damage to a chrysler minivan at 5mph

This thread made me desire cheaper insurance. I got one of the instant quotes from Progressive, and for 6 months, with full coverage for my truck and the highest medical levels, I would be paying ~$768, roughly half of what I pay now for zero coverage on my own truck.

Needless to say, MetLife will no longer be getting my business when it comes time to renew, unless they can provide a comparable quote.

I pay $852 a year with about 6 tickets, 1 license suspension(from demerits) and no accidents, full coverage on my 03 F350. My insurance has dropped substantially every year since my license was suspended, I'm paying about 1/4 what I was before that happened and it is now 4 years later, turning 25 was huge for me haha. I'm 26 now.

If you don't qualify for USAA membership....beg, borrow, cheat, steal until you do. Hands down the best insurer around.

I use to complain cuz my friend has been in more accidents and had more tickets than I've had, at the time he told me, was paying full insurance on one vehicle and liability only on another. At that time I was 120 a month for liability only (no accidents just those 3 tickets) and he was paying 180 or so.

But I learned awhile ago that complaining really never gets you anywhere and these days I'm just glad I have my truck!
