Well I finally got time to install my resistor this weekend. It went great, very nerve racking, but all in all not bad. Thanks to everyone for your help and guidance on this I would not have tried it with out you guys. Also special thanks to fordman837000 for the resistors!
I'm doin mine as soon as I get the resistors in the mail from cookie88. Did you use a low heat soldering iron? All I own is a regular heat one. Wonderin if it will work. Notice any difference after the mod?
I used a regular heat iron with a small tip. I noticed a little smoother idle and a little more smoke, but it is snowing here and I did not get a chance to put the truck through the paces.
whew i see that. mine is different inside than the link with pictures on how to do it. all the components inside mine are covered in silicone, did you put something over the new resistor?
No I did not I bent mine in a W shape with the resistor as the middle of the W, if that make any sence. I put a small amoumt of soder on each point of the W before installing it and cut off the extra part of the legs of the W so that all I had to do was hold it with a pair of neddle nose and heat the soder that was already there. This way I did not need a third hand. I was sweating bullets!!!! LOL!
