Make your own custom grille logo (pics)

When I did the facelift on my truck, I'd had a logo stuck over the Ford one before - but didn't like how it stuck down and the raised "FORD" showed through. So here's a way to make a better looking one.

1. Pick what you want - there's a TON of stuff out there on Ebay, etc. I got mine from this guy : Ford Emblem Stickers Here's what he sent :

They don't lay down perfectly, so I trimmed out the parts I would stick down.

Next sand, sand, sand !!! I started with 60 grit to get the blue off and down to bare metal. Then continued to get the embossed letters smooth. I worked my way to 100 grit, then 220, then finally 600 grit.

Next, paint it whatever color you want. I used Krylon satin finish in black. Lays down very smooth and dries for re-coat in 10 minutes. Once dry, put on whatever decal you want

Once that's done, just shoot on some clear coat. I put double sided tape on the backside, and trimmed it down to the edge.

Hope this helps you guys - here's the finished product

Looks great TNT!! You got my wheels spinning now.

Lookin at your pics above, the one after painting doesn't show the smaller outer chrome ring, but when it's on the truck, it's there. What gives? or am I missing something?

That "chrome ring" is part of the grill.
