right blinker makes cruize turn off... and on tc lockup too
right blinker kills cruize and torque converter lockup also makes cruize turn on at times. what wil it take to fix this? is it just the ford gremlins and something i have to live with?
Check the bulb and wiring in the right rear signal/brake light. Also take a look at the wiring in the trailer plug, a short there will do the same thing.
Trailer plug would be my guess too since I had a very similar thing happen with a 95. Found it when I plugged in a trailer and things realy went crazy.
i know there are 3 trailer plugs wired into my truck. all work like they are supposed to, although the wiring job is a mess. i think i will unplug the trailer plugs at the factory plug when im not pulling a trailer and see if that makes it quit. easy stuff first. now for the 3rd brake light, i dont think my truck has a 3rd brake light my truck is a 97. theres some extra running lights under the tailgate which work great. they dont blink though. would a trailer brake controller have anything to do with it?
which milti function switch are you talking about? the blinker-windshield wiper switch? how hard is it to replace?
Yes that is the switch. I am having the same problem with cruise and I am convinced that is my problem. It is not that hard to replace I have heard. But before you go buy a new one remove it and clean it out with contact cleaner. See if that helps I have heard of good results doing that and it is free.
The switch can be removed without removing the wheel. Just remove the plastic around the column and you will be able to get it out.

ok i checked the light, which i found was a hard thing to do by myself. my leg isnt quite long enough to press the brake and look behind the cab at the same time. so i got engenuitive and used a rubber band to hold the button on my trailer brake controller while i checked it. sure enough it didnt work so i got engenuitive once again and stole the light out of the cargo light and put it in the middle. now i have no cargo light. but i do have a 3rd brake light. so i am going to test the cruize tomorrow and see if that helped. i was unaware that my truck even had a 3rd brake light. what year did they start putting the brake lights in?
I have the same problem but all my lights work. i removed my brake controller and noticed it started shortly after I removed it. Could this be the culprit?
