recon 08 mirror signal light brightness question

just finished the 08 tow mirror install on my SD and changed to the smoked recon LED signal mirror lenses.

i never saw how bright the OEM signal mirror was or noticed how its visibility was from different angles , but i doesnt look like the recons are as bright as i would like and they dont look to project to the rear like i think the OEM would

has anyone that had the OEM ambers, changed to the smoked, that can give an opinion about there function please

i am thinking of trying to smoke my OEM amber lenses and try them but wanted to get a feel for how the OEM and recon compare before i go to the trouble

thanks

ok there better at night, but still not what i think they should be

i learned the smoke process cuts down some of the light.

thinking of doing light smoke on the OEMs. has some one done any experimentation on there 08 signals?

thanks

From what I read, the RECONs are LED and the OEM were incandescent.

dew i can tell you this is true in my case as i have both, and the 08-09 OEM are incandescent and the Recon are LED.
what i dont have is a way to light them both up to see what the difference is

thanks

LED only offers a 30º light dispersion IIRC. Which means they really only shine light in one direction. That could have something to do with it. Along with the smoke drowning out the light that is...

dew that is what i am thinking, it is a combo the smoke and LEDs that give dim light, but to try the OEMS i have to smoke them and then take my mirrors apart again to install them

so if there are any other opinions it would be helpful too

thanks!!

I would just grab a 12v battery or battery charger and hook it up to the OEM light... compare from there.
