I have an 03 Lightning with a magnaflow muffler withstock exhaust manifold and cat. I am considering installing headers and a high flow cat. I will retain my magnaflow muffler but am trying to find out if anyone has done this for their Lightning and if there were any issues with installation/ lost back pressure/ or burning out starters.
I was thinkning that shorty headers would reduce lost back presuure more so than the long but am not sure. I definatley want a more aggressive sound and better performance. Can anyone help or lend some advice or recommend a header?
Aslo, I noticed that the 03 lighthning has two cats per exhaust bank and the header kits I found only have one cat per side. Does anyone know how many O2 sensors there are on the 03 Lightning? Just want to make sure that if there are actually 4 O2 sensors that two wont be hanging and mess up the emissions. If there are only two O2 sensors then I don't see an issue otherwise.
Please help,
Thanks!
Also how do I get an "avatar" or immage for my account?
Can't help you with the headers Leo, but I think you need to post 25 times to qualify for the avatar. Then go to your "USER CP" and fill in the blanks. You can fill in most of it now.....Your post count shows in the upper right side of every post.

Hey Leo,,
I have an 03 supercrew with a Lightning drivetrain in it.
If your going to do headers,,,long-tubes are the way to go. You will see no HP gain with the shorty's.
Most people cut out the 4 cats and just run 2 high flow cats with long-tube headers.
You have four 02s and will need two 02 wire extenders with the headers.
The first 4 on this page are the right connectors but I forget what length you'll need..lol summitracing.com
My tuner has my downstream 02s turned off in my tune so I only have two 02s now.
As for the make of headers,,if ya got the money stainless is the way to go.
JDM performance,Johnny Lightning ,LFP,
Magnaflow,Kooks
Some are having good luck with OBX on ebay,,and there a lot cheaper.
And the cheapest(but not stainless) are Pacesetters.

talk with johnny lightning, i know him personaly and he is a great guy to deal with. local shop, family run busniss. he is the man to go to with questions on lightnings........ and he will probably tell you to not waste the money on headers, i do beleive his 9 second runs were made on manifolds. if i recall he had the pinternally polished and coated, got more horsepower on manifolds then he did with headers.
