a little story for yall.

well, as some of yall here know, there is a certain dodge boy here in town that thinks his pos plain jane dog with the comeapart diesel is the best thing ever made. i mean he talks about this pos truck like it is gold plated.

even when it was broke down in the dealership for 7 1/2 months, it was still the best truck ever made, even though it would not stay running.

well, today i go into the local deli through the side door, and walk up behind him as he is spouting his BS about the comeapart. "yea, it is putting out 1056 hp and 1,874 ft. lbs. of torque on the dyno yesterday afternoon.
it was the K&N air filter, K&N 6 inch exhaust, and the K&N superchips supertuner that really woke the engine up".

with that, i stepped out behind him and slapped 5 $100 bills on the counter and said "if it is that great, then it will wipe my stock ford all over the highway. lets go!!"

the cop standing at the end of the counter told dodge boy the challenge was out, put up or shut. then he told me no betting allowed, and handed me back the money.

i walked out to my 02, fired it up, and pulled out to the side of the parking lot waiting for him, with the cop sitting in his patrol car behind me.

dodge boy got into his pickup, and pulled out like he was gonna race me..

the light at the corner turned red, and we both staged , him in the right lane, and me in the left.

as the light went yellow in the opposite direction , i power braked it, setting the tires to just start spinning.
as the light turned green, i laid into it letting off the brakes.
i took off like a rocket going straight, and he made a right turn to go home.
i went down the road a piece, flipped a u-turn, and came back to the deli, where the cop and road supervisor(my cousin) where waiting for me.

i walked in to everyone laughing, and got a free iced tea out of the deal for making dodge boy look stupid..... again.

I'm assuming you are slamming the guy for throwing around a bunch of bs and not insulting the 5.9 Cummins in that Dodge. As you can see from my sig, I have both the 5.9 Cummins and a 7.3 Powerstroke. While each of them have their own little issues or quirks, neither of them I have anything bad to say about. That being said, I'm not a big fan of the new 6.0 or 6.4 Fords, or the newer 24 vlave Cummins due to their complexity and expense to repair, but there is nothing shabby about a Cummins. I'm a lover of both the 7.3 PS, and also the older 5.9 Cummins because they are so reliable and simple. As the saying goes...K.I.S.S.....(Keep it simple Stupid). I love that saying and I love my 5.9 as much as I love my 7.3. But just like you, a BS'r like the Dodge guy you were talking about gets on my nerves too.

the first time i got into it with this idiot, he was telling a guy "i don't know nothin bout no fords"
i walked out of the deli when i saw dodge boy looking under the hood of a F250 at the door, and heard him tell the owner the engine in his new used F250 was a 302, cause that is all that came in them, and he needed "trundle bushings" in the front end.

i looked under the hood, and said 460.

then i asked the owner what he was talking about with the "trundle bushings". as dodge boy was again saying the "trundle bushings" were bad, the owner pointed to the king pins. i politely told him thew were called king pins. when dodge boy started with his BS, i reminded him that he "didn't know nothin bout no fords", and to shut up before he made everyone think he was a total idiot.

needles to say, he didn't shut up, and i convinced everyone we was indeed a total idiot.

everything he makes up is true, cause he read it in a speed magazine.

oh, and the pos 1056 hp truck with the K&N everything in it??

it has a does have a k&n air filter on it, but the fancy 6 inch exhaust is really the muffler replaced with a straight pipe, and a 6 inch pipe tip on the end of the tailpipe.

no chip either.

and Scott. you are correct. i only slander the cummins to him. and his pos is a 2006 electronic truck, not the good old mechanical engine.

Mike, i am well know in town. i was on the force for almost 8 years till i broke my neck back in 82. and dad just retired after 50 years on. most of my family is on or has been on in town.

i bet you know him from the old days Steve.

he used to have a duster with a six cylinder, side pipes, and the back end jacked up in the mid 80's painted red and white, called the coca-cola special, and lived in sayerwoods south, over near rt#9. .

Not intending to hijack the thread, but while I was commenting on how I love both the 5.9 Cummins and the 7.3 and had nothing bad to say about either? The only thing that spooks me on the 7.3 is what it costs to replace the injectors. You can buy an entire set for the 5.9 for $400, whereas over $2,000.00 for the 7.3. That does concern me about when that time comes.

i wouldn't worry about it too much Scott.
we have yet to have to put injectors in any of the powerstrokes in work, and some of them have over 400,000 miles on them. all have over 200,000 miles except for one, and that is a 6.0

Thats what I have been hearing. While the 5.9 injectors are much less expensive, I doubt my 5.9 will go 400,000 miles before needing them. I guess if you figure cost per mile, there probably isn't a heck of alot of difference in the long run between them.
