Question Where to post about Ford Five-Hundreds

There's a local used Ford Five-Hundred that my brother wants to buy. It's getting harder and harder to constantly share the Expedition, and he wants a vehicle he can call his. Of course I've wanted to say the Expedition is just mine for a long time, so this is ok with me as well. Where in these forums can I ask questions about them? What models are good, what features. We know practically nothing about the car other than they were temporary Tauruses. I would like to get an OASIS report on it to see if it's safe, as it's price seems a bit on the cheap side.

Thanks Ford Forums

Right here.

The other forums are titled for the main focus, which will be trucks or non-automotive items. Since this is general automotive, here is the place. Heck, people have gotten sound advice on Nissans and other non-Fords, so you'll do ok with the Taurus--er, 500.

What year? Miles? FWD or AWD?

Consumer Reports pretty much gives it good marks all around, reliability, crash worthiness, etc.

The 3.0 is a noisy one, and I would be wary of the CVT trans, evn though no trans issues show in the data from CR.

Is it new enough, low miles enough to buy a Ford ESP warranty? If not, ok, but don't bother with other warranties.

They say $11-16,000 or so for an '05.

It makes the 'reliable' list for one model and avoids the 'avoid' list completely.

It was a 2005 Black SEL model, 150,000 miles for 8,000$.

Thanks for those answers

FWIW: I do not care what book value is on that vehicle. He is buying a FWD automatic car (Ford - not BWM, not SAAB, not Lexus) with 150k that is just begging to have its transmission replaced for a cost of $2400.

imho, It is a $2k car in this economy, I wouldn't buy it. Especially considering it is a 500.
