Ok...question...i've got 9145 fog lights in my truck....they burned out and i emailed sylvania complaing and they tell me that it should be a 9140....anyone know for sure what bulb we have in our 07's...and are those two bulbs the same?
From looking at some stuff online it appears the 9145 and 9140 are basically the same bulbs except the 9145 is 42 watts and the 9140 is 40 watts. The factory replacement bulb calls for the 9140. There does not appear to be any problems with using the 9145 bulb in its place from what people have said.
I would think it would be the same as the 06, which is 9140. I hit something and had to replace the bulb and no auto parts store nor walmart carried that bulb. They all said it would have to be special ordered. Went to dealer and even they had to order the bulb becouse they did not carry it. If the 07 is diffrent, then disregard
They are saying 9140's are the factory replacement bulb but I did not see anybody having trouble with the 9145's(That doesn't mean some people aren't though).
i looked it up on their web site and 04 to 05 is the 9145 and the 06 to 08 is the 9140
but as ryan50hrl i to can't get the silverstars light to last more than a few month and they cost more than a normal ones and the last one really mess up my fog light

It could due to the fact that starting '06, the fog light housings are small and round instead of the big rectangular ones found on the '04~'05. Short life might have to do with the amount of heat the housings can dissipate? But I can't see what a difference of 2W will do.
I've been running the 9145 Silverstars in my '05 for about 4 months now. They seem much brighter than my Silverstar low beams and appear to be about at bright as my highbeams when both are on--I moded my foglight relay to do that.
No problem with my fog light housing so far....but the burning out kinda annoys me...
This is probably going to start a war, but guys, there is a switch that controls the FOG lights. If you only turn them on when it's foggy out they will last along time. They aren't driving lights!
Well thats a debate...sylvania lists them as driving/fog lights...so depending on who you ask they are driving lights....
Plus.....they give much better illumination of the ditches....which is important to me when i do a fair amount of driving in the rural areas around wisconsin....
i would stop spending 20 bucks every couple months for a set of lights and just go with the HID conversion for 9145s. i have them in my headlights and fog lights and they are a lot better than the halogens. mine only cost 125 a set for the headlights and foglights

Yep, probably will...but...here in rural Georgia they come in quite handy for finding those tall grayish-tan critters tehy call deer on the side of the roadways (as well as dogs, cats, etc). A halogen bulb should last just as long as a halogen bulb. If it is exploding as ours are, then it's either moisture or voltage and not due to wearing out because there's no fog. I should be able to run them just as long as the low beam bulb (total hours)....I just wish I could find where the doggone thing is letting water in....

I have an issue with the PNP HID systems. The OEM headlight housing was not designed to disperse the HID light properly, it was for a halogen bulb.
This scenario causes insanely blinding light to oncoming drivers.
Have someone drive you're truck towards you as you drive past. It should be brighter than hell. If it isn't, then you have somehow managed to find a PNP system that can actually function well.

Okay... going off topic here, so if a mod wants to move it, be my guest, but I can't find a switch for mine (05 F150 Fx4). I just got it back in October and have yet to see the lights on. I've looked for a switch and can't find one. I figured they were DRL's and the manual says they come on when the truck is in drive. I still never saw them on. Reading this thread jogged my mind to think "you idiot, they are probably burned out". Anyway, if you can point me to the switch - I would appreciate it. And again, sorry for going off topic.
