What type of oil to use?
This is the first thread I've posted on here, but here it goes! I just purchased an '06 F150 STX with 35000 miles on it. This truck looks like it was extremely well taken care of. My question is this. I have no clue what type or brand of oil was used in this truck. Is it going to matter what brand I go with or if I go with a synthetic? Just want to make sure to get it right as this truck has to last me a long time!! Thanks for any help!

Or look for a coupon from a good Ford Dealer and just have them change it. They usually do the normal checks to and tell you if anything else is a problem. Of course you can just refuse anything else but it's good to know. I used one for my old truck last month, $19.95 for a coupon oil change, $70. for some other regular stuff including fuel filter and some adjustments, but it was worth it, they tweaked and lubed a bunch of little things including my stuck parking brake pedal.

I like MotorCraft 5w20 oil & MC 820 S filter. Get 5qt. jug for $11+ & filter for $3+ at wall mart ( 7gts with filter ) I use WIX filters in my non FORD cars. Local FORD dealer does the $19.99 oil & filter change & fluid top off. That's $19.99 no tax, no supplies or disposal fee, prices differ but its a good way to meet the guys at your local dealer that may help you down the road.

Based on Mobil 1's ads.
I never understood how one could go the Mobil 1 route and say Amsoil is too much when it is only like 2 bucks more a quart. After discounts, you can get Amsoil for the same price.
I use motorcraft. Based on ..... 10 years seeing the insides of Ford engines looking perfectly fine on motorcraft. Less money, good protection.
