For the head studs, check out JCwhitney, or Summitracing. I haven't checked to make sure they had it, but you can also just google it.

You should be able to get everything you need at Summit.

I saw that they have the head gaskets. But the don't have a complete kit. Which is what I would need beause I would basically be rebuilding the whole top end of the motor.

coolant in engine oil

Called two dealers in my area for a price. 1st dealer said $2800.00 for both head gaskets. 2nd dealer said get rid of truck. It's to costly and to much a pain in the *** job!

There is no easy or cheap way around the potential head issue. The 5.4L in my 1997 van (115K miles) had an issue with blowing white smoke out the exhaust. An obvious coolant leak. Got help from someone with access to a repair shop. Pulled the heads and changed the gaskets. Had the heads checked and everything. Put it back together and it ran fine for 3 weeks and then white smoke again. Took it to Ford who said a pressure check could isolate the leak. They told me there was water in the oil and I needed a new engine. $7000!!!!. No isolation as to the potential cause. I got a junk yard engine with 20K miles for $2000. With two people working a long weekend (about 30 hours total) put the engine in. That was 6 years ago and the truck is still running great. Later I started to find posts about head issues and torqueing concerns with the heads on the earlier modular motors.

The only benefit of going to the dealer is that you may have some recoarse if the job doesn't stay fixed. Most will stand behind it for a year.
