Well, we will have to plan something to include the races. We can tailgate there of course, meet up at a place in town, or even have a BBQ at my place, I have plenty of room. Who's interested?

I'm up for any/all of that stuff.

How far is it from the Best Western on Hwy 50 to Top Gun? Looks like it's only a couple of miles. Those of us who won't be pulling a trailer need to find a decent motel.

Top Gun is 14 miles south of town. The Holiday Inn is the best motel in town, but any of the chain hotels should be fine. There's a few locals I wouldn't go near. If you want a genuine authentic old west experience, you can always stay at the Overland, the beds are comfy but your bathroom might be down the hall!

for me it's just "pretend racing"...

race vehicles are usually quick and or fast..mine really doesn't qualify...

it is fun though..

expect ALOT of qualifying passes to fill the days time..

do any of you folks in the Fallon area know if Top Gun Raceway allows overnight trailer stays at the track? I've e-mailed and tried to call up there, and haven't received a response..

I'd like to get up there Friday and leave Sunday..

I don't know about the track but there are a couple of RV parks in Fallon.

What about 'Sand Mountain', which I think is about 30 miles east of Fallon, on Highway 50.

The last time I was there, it was free.

Sand mountain has now been turned into a designated BLM 'fee area' thanks to the weekly invasion from Sacramento and points west, $40 week or $90 year. There is no day rate. Locals can ride for free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I'm pretty sure you can stay at the track but I have the Mr. find out for sure, if not you should be able to dry camp anywhere on the surrounding BLM land.
