I believe that the 4 speed I installed does not have any syncros. I have never driven a non syncroed trans before, any pointers or tips? I know that you are supposed to double clutch, but have never done it before. BTW reverse is over and back on the pattern.

I know with the older vehicles it is supposed to be an art form to drive them properly.

 

The shift pattern is the give away, to the right and back. If it were a syncronized tranny it would be to the right and up.

BTW, with the four speed you start out in 2nd gear.

 

Mine currently has that transmission. It's a bear to drive. I've been driving 18 wheelers with non-synchro 10 speeds for years and can't seem to master a Ford 4 speed. Go figure. I'm rebuilding my truck with the stock 3 speed so I don't have to be as embarrassed grinding gears pulling into the local cruise in...

 

well currently i can only go around the house with it as i have a fuel pump pumping out of a 1 gallon gas can, so there is no problem moving it if i only use first and reverse... lol
