anyone tried removing the liftgate panel of a 2007 expedition? i'm trying to install a backup camera and need to remove the liftgate panel then run the wires to tap into the backup lights. i've been searching the forums but can't seem to find the right thread. would greatly appreciate any help. thanks.

I own a 2000 Ford Expedition and neither the liftgate nor liftgate glass open, with the key or the remote. The handle turns left and right (Glass/ Door) but nothing happens. My felling is that something either came loose or broke inside the liftgate.
With the third seat being so close to the liftgate I don't have much room to work with to try and remove the panel.
I need to get the panel off the liftgate in order to see what happened but don't know how and don't want to start forcing or prying without knowing what to do first.
Can you please help or point me in the right direction?
No, the lift gate will have to be open as the interior liner is sealed in the liftgate jamb. I successfuly removed the liftgate liner and reattached it. Just use firm and steady leverage to "pop" the retainers and all should be well. If your liftgate is stuck in the down position I recommend spending the money (I know its tight) and letting the dealer fiddle with it so you don't end up spending more to replace the interior liner or entire liftgate.
Another thought is you might try removing the interior handle to pull the gate down with which might give you enough room to see the locking mechanism and attempt to disengage it.

Have you tried turning the handle while someone on the inside pushes? Just a thought.

According to the pics TIKT posted, there should be two scrivets visible once I open the Glass door. Well, I managed to open the glass door by removing from inside the vehicle, the two screws that hold the handle. But sadly, I find that the lower panel completely covers the locking mechanism (it appears that the panel slides down over the lock and no scrivets are visible. Maybe the images are not for a 2000 Expedition.
I removed the windshield wiper and the rubber cover on the liftgate wiper motor shaft. I managed to stick a wire hanger through the hole where the wiper motor shaft sticks out of, and was able to release the lock of the glass door by pushing downwards and removed the glass door locking latch. As much as I tried through the glass door lock and the windshield wiper hole, I couldn't get to the side of the lock mechanism that actuates the lower part of the liftgate door lock to release it.
The worse part is that I can't remove the inside lower panel because as St381 indicates, the interior panel is sealed in the liftgate jamb.
Unless someone comes up with a better solution, I guess I'll have to take her into the dealer and hope they want to do the work as they do not accept any Ford for repairs that is more than 10 yrs. old.
