I6 300 big cam

Anyone used Cliffords Performance 6=8 ? I talked to him about a hot cam for the 300 and he said it will work with the stock computer and fuel injection in my 90 f150. He also said he could build a pretty sweet head for this same motor. Anyone got an idea about how much HP/Torque the 300 would produce bored .30 with a hot cam and some head work and maybe a little boosted up spark.

Thanks

There's no reason the 4.9 couldn't make as much HP as the 5.0 can with the right cam and other complementary parts. Don't bother boring the engine unless it needs it though, that alone won't make any difference.

the 4.9 can prolly make as much hp as the 5.0, just you will be paying for it more so than a 5.0. the motors are completely different (V 8 to a I6) and parts are a lot more abundant and cheaper for the 5.0. boring the motor adds displacement, which does mean more power.

not significant displacement to warrant the $ if it doesnt need it. I dont know the math off the top of my head but someone chime in on a 10 over 300 6, whats the new displacement?

Exactly. The 5.0 in my truck is 40 thou over(307cu in), and it was a typical gutless wonder before it got a new cam and exhaust.

FWIW 10 thou over on a 4.9 equals 1.5 cubic inches more.

You will never even notice .030. I would rather have a loose engine any day. Depending on how many miles are on the engine i might throw new rod bearings in. If you want real power (replacment for dicplacement) put an HX35 turbo from a Cummins deisel (2003-2004) on there.
