hey guys,

i have to replace the both valve covers (rotting), and valve cover gaskets (leaking) on my 1993 Ranger 4.0.

i have noticed some of the valve cover bolts on the driver side are rotting due to rust and i would like to replace them. i was wondering what size thread they are (metric or standard), and the length.

just want to get all of the parts in order before i dive into this project.

well they are defintily metric. do you have a 2nd vehicle? pull one and take it to a store with you. i think a 10 mm socket is what fits it, probly a 6 mm bolt. aint going to have much length to it. i had a bad bolt on the drivers side by the exhaust manifold i replaced when i did gaskets, was a couple years back and im not exactly certian on the size. all of them are identical though, i do recall that much.

 

M6 x 1.00 is the thread size, about 15mm long.............I hate metric.
