I know this is not a car forum but you guys have helped me out with enough truck question, I thought you might be able to hook me up with this problem. I have a 98 Ford contour, and I have locked my keys up in it, it has power windows and door locks. I have called the Ford deal trying to get the key code so I can have a key made. can anyone get me a key code, my ID is 1FAFP6639WK303825 or have any suggestions

take a rubber door wedge, wood if u have one a metal coat hanger and a blood pressure kit. jam the wedge in the door frame as much as you can and just the part that inflate with air roll tight and slip as much as you can between the door and the roof. pump up just before it slips out and push the wedge farther in replace blood pressure kit and repeat intill you have enough space to pass the clothes hanger down the door. ive done this a few times on mine and buddys car and trucks.. it wont bend anything..

Your local Ford parts manager should be able to cut you a key from the V.I.N.
But to have this done you'll need to go there with your drivers license and insurance card or title (showing the V.I.N.) as proof of ownership.
Good luck.
p.s. probably won't give you the key code for fear you might not be the owner, legal liability etc.

The location of the lock button and the pressure it takes to work it is near impossable to do from the door jam, I had an explorer one time and this trick would well but not on this car. I called two Ford dealers and they only go back 10 years and dont have this year in the computer. A locksmith is $50 buck to get them out I just thought I would try the cheaper route first.

NAPA has slim jims for under $20. I went through the whole dealer fiasco trying to get a key made and they needed at least 1 thing That was kept in the truck. Even though my cousins wife worked at the dealer they still couldn't make me a key. I finally just got the slim jim and got it unlocked in about 5 minutes. If you go that route, for whatever reason you use it on the P. side.

Like my truck when I first got it, it wouldnt open from the inside handle. Back when my friend owned it, he locked the keys in the truck one day. So he called a locksmith who slim jimmed the passenger door open. Well it turns out the reason it wouldnt open from the inside was because the locksmith bent the inside handle rod, which wouldnt let it move the door latch enough to open it from the inside.

What I did was this. My daughter has a `96 Mystique which is very similar to the Contour. My wife used to have a `97 Taurus. My son has the Taurus now. The remote fobs for the two cars were identical. The remotes can be programmed to any vehicle following published procedures. I simply programmed both of the remotes for the Taurus and the one for the Mystique to both cars. I have the second remote for the Taurus now which operates either vehicle for unlocking or locking them and have a key to each.

Jam a wedge inbetween the back upper edge of the passenger front window jamb to create an opening which you can slide a rod into the interior of the vehicle. insert a long rod or threaded rod bent in such a way to hit the power unlock switch , or hook and pull the inside lever which also unlocks the car. There are long rods available to unlock cars . Do a search under lockout tools.

I agree here I locked my self out of my truck and I had to pay a locksmith to come get me in and all he did was jam two door wedges in and used what was basicaly a clothes hanger to get in, the worst $70 I ever spend but I didn't have any wedges so try to get something to wedge into the door and use the hanger to hit the unlock button. Good luck I really hope you can get in cause it's a bitch to have to pay for something that take the locksmith ten minutes!!

I GOT THEM OUT!!!!! Turns out my Mom has AAA and she called them for me and they sent some one out to open it, they payed up to $50 and it cost $52 so I was very happy. he came and used a air bag thing in the door jam then a rod and hit the unlock botton. easy enough just like many of you said. I going now to get more keys made!!

For future reference, my uncle locked his keys and phone in his Dodge truck. He was in the desert riding dirt bikes far from help. He took the seal out of his rear window (solid, not slider window) and crawled in and got the keys. He took it to a car window shop and had them re-install the rear window seal. I'm not sure how much it cost him, but it got him out of a jam.
