my friend is going to be mad......he wants one in a mustang.
Well, the skuttlebutt has been that the 6.2 would definitely come out in the Superduty and MAYBE show up other places too... We'll have to wait until the 2011 specs are released to see if it's gonna make it to the SD.
I'm beginning to wonder if they will really ever produce it at all for ANY thing.

in the 2009 F150 forum there is a thread discussing engine for the 2011 model year. The is a 5.0L V8 and 3.5L boosted V6. The article mentioned that the 6.2L will be a niche F-150 option but will be in the super duty line up.
Estimated numbers for the 6.2l were 400hp and a tad over 400tq. With HP and TQ numbers so close together I'm just assuming its a higher rpm motor. Peak HP probably in the mid 5krpm range and peak tq in the mid 4k rpm range. Just a guess who knows what the #s will be. Ford probably doesn't know yet.

Don't worry guys. I have been told the 2010 model year Super Duty will be a very short run, Oct. 2009 to Jan. 2010. The 2011 Super Duty should be introduced in Feb. 2010, and will have the 6.7L diesel and the 6.2L 'Boss'.
To be honest, I wasn't too worried. To take a step back from the V10 and lose at least 60 ft/lbs of torque, if they aren't keeping the V10 for a while, is a losing proposition.

That's the word I got also, kinda like the 07 run, Which is why 2010 powertrain combos are limited just like the 2007 model year
(emmisions testing is expensive)
I also heard the F250 will get IFS the F350 still retains the straight axle (mono beam),
There will also be some smaller engine choices in 2012 model year
Also the Stick shift (manual trans) will still be around.

FWIW, I heard IFS will happen on the next generation Super Duty, but I have no idea if the 2011 will be the next generation. Seems to me that talk was the next Super Duty would come in 2012 as a 2013 model.

I don't forsee a new SD in my future them. I'm shure the 6.2l will perform so thats not really my major concern, but I love the V10. Theres NO WAY I'm buying a SD with IFS. I'm not a fan of the front coils on the 05'up SDs. Sounds like I better stock up on parts for my 04'. Have to buy a smaller truck to keep the miles off my current SD. Whats next a unibody SD.

You've just expressed exactly how I feel.
The whole reason I got rid of my '74 highboy (besides the swiss cheese cab) was that I could replace it with a solid-front-axle, leaf-springs-all-around, torque monster of a gas engine that could easily outperform the hi-po 390 I built for the highboy.
I suspect the pendulum will swing back the other way again in another decade and 20 years after it was produced, I'll be replacing my 2001.
Until then, ta-ta! (tips his hat)
PS: I know, there is supposedly a 7.0L version of the 6.2 coming out for the SD, but ... until then, I'll keep what I have.
