I have heard it called both, A case and a carrier. Like Some people call it a front Rear ?. Reider racing calls it a case or "case split" Some people call it a carrier split. But I Never heard it called a Housing. If you call FORD or a junkyard or 4x4 shop and ask for a axle housing you will get the whole front axle out to the knuckles. Not just the ring gear carrier/case.

Everything I said about 44/50 vs 60 still applies just change out the word case for carrier then.
The Axle Housing is the Housing and not a Diff case/carrier. And a 50 Is Not A 60 period.

Yep,
Mine has been very good and dependable , 100K with just regular mantaince. Just no power. The 2bbl and SMOG stuff kills it.
I Special ordered mine with the 4.10 trailer special to help but it's still pretty weak by todays standards.
