What is also important are the "smog" laws......

If you "change" the engine, eventually when you go in for a smog test you will get tagged for this and the local smog guy can no longer test your vehicle- it has to go to a federal referee station.

If you swap in an engine that didn't belong in the vehicle in the first place, guess what, law enforcement carry a manual to help them visually identify "common" engine swaps (including the ricers) and if they find a un-approved engine swap in any vehicle on or off road, guess what- immediate impound and unless a judge issues an order, the vehicle will be crushed.
