Ram Air Intake Intercooler style

Ram Air Intake Intercooler style
Has anybody tried to use this intake from a Honda set up. The intake is in the form of an inter cooler style that sits in front of your rad. I just had a thought of my old rice burner days and thought this might be kinda use full. Let me know if you guys think this set up would work on a 2000 4.2 V6 F150 (5 speed). Heres a link with a pic.

My concerns would be:
1. How will you direct the air to the throttle body? Are you going to fab custom tubing? Isn't this going to add $$$ to the conversion cost?
2. Where are you going to place the MAF? I would think that the location is critical.
3. Won't the filter be exposed to rain/bugs/etc being in front of the radiator? Won't that hurt performance?
Just things to think about...

I could see this setup in a drag application where the filter would never be exposed to rain/mud/debris. However, in a daily driver it's just not practical. The first time the filter was exposed to rain, your engine performance is going to be highly effected and may even cause damage to the the MAF and other electrical components. You would get a lot more "bang for your buck" by installing a quality tuner.

Wow a question that I can answer. Well the concerns about the mud and bug, etc. Can kinda be thrown out the window, there should be a plastic/plexi type materail guard that covers the front to protect it. I think it would be a waste of time, and money. I have a honda and personally I would never use that thing. It's rice in my opinion . Anyways I think a short ram will lead better results, or an intake designed for what your driving. Plus that thing prob has some crap filter on it as well, better off just getting some 3 or 2.5 ich pipe and fabing up your own intake, just make sure that your mafs stays the same distance from the tb. That and use a good filter, K&N or AEM. Or like I said an aftermarket intake made for your truck is always a better choice, and cheaper that that interfoler of an intake.
