and thanks for your absolutely worthless comment Berry1234. You obviously didn't even read my post before weighing in again.

I bought the SUV and my F-150 knowing 12 city and about 18 highway were good averages.

However, alot of posts here indicate that 17 highway is a mythical figure.

I was merely drawing a conclusion between the 2 Fords I currently own.

1. 2006 F-150 Supercrew that weighs in at 6,000 lbs empty. Has the 5.4 with 4 speed and 3.73 gears.

2. 2008 Expy EL Limited that is at least 6,000+ Lbs with 5.4 and 6 speed.

My truck is Supercharged @ 6 psi and I can easily get 12.5 MPG city...and that is with me beating the snot out of the truck. It previously got 20-21 mpg highway without really trying. Just set the Cruise control and went with it

vs. alot of posts I've read where people claim a best of 17 mpg highway...the city MPG is a no-brainer. It's hard for the 5.4 to get the monster rolling...so anything over 10 mpg is acceptable in my eyes.
I'm just trying to figure out why the Expy doesn't seem to get better highway MPG's...that 6th gear combined with the lower RPM's should help a bit

20 mpg highway might be a bit farfetched, but 19 mpg should be attainable I would think.
No, I didn't because it's blabber. You want to talk ad nauseum about 'mythical' gas mileage and what you 'might' be able to get. Who cares? Keep your leadfoot out of it and you CAN get 20+ mpg on the fwy.

tylus has a good reputation on FTE. tylus has a good reputation on FTE.

First off:
why bother posting when you have nothing worthwhile to contribute?
what you posted is a prime example of why FTE has become less active over the past 2-3 years. it gets irritating to read the posts of self-righteous people such as yourself

if you cannot help, or at least not be so blatantly rude, it would be nice of you to at least stay off the post

I asked a valid question and you posted utter tripe about the stupidity of people and how they shouldn't buy a vehicle knowing it gets bad MPGs
especially as your post was in no way relevant to my question....or that you very clearly didn't even bother to read my post

2ndly:
I just bought my Expy 1.5 days ago. I have driven a grand total of 40 some odd miles.

I came across this thread and saw primarily bad MPG figures. Yeah, it's a heavy beast with a V-8...but the #'s seem rather low. Even when accounting for the negative aspects such as weight and motor size.

Pardon my surprise at seeing Real World MPG #'s

Really recommend you fully read a post Berry1234 before posting something so rude again. New people join FTE all the time. Posts such as yours can and will influence them to look elsewhere.

1) Your not the OP, so assuming all comments are for you just shows how narcissistic you are.
2) Nothing rude in my post. Just opinion.
3) Talking about mileage for the 10,000 time is what dilutes these boards. There are tons of threads about mileage, did you search?

Why no, I did not do a search for MPG's in the Expy. When I initially entered this area of FTE, MPG's weren't even on the brain.

However, I just bought my very first Expy and know next to nothing about them. So I went back about 2 pages worth of threads here in this area of FTE. I was looking for common complaints and other items of general interest. Mainly mod ideas though...I like to personalize my vehicles.

This thread caught my attention...especially the real world MPG #'s people posted. Got me wondering a bit, so I bumped a post that had been dead for 11 days.

Intended as an opinion or not, your post is rude and has no bearing on the discussion of this thread.

In addition, this thread had been dead for 11 days, and it was my post that did the revival. I think most people would agree that your comment appears pointed primarily at me.

Either way, this hardly makes me a Narcissist.

btw, the little readout says 13.2 (ish) MPG right now with 100% city driving. How accurate is the computer vs. hand calculated? I know the F-150's are usually about 1 mpg off on the high end

Whatever, the arguing won't end. I would expect that after a 1,000 miles or so your mpg will even out. Most people will see 18-21 on the fwy and 14-16 city. I have gotten close to 22mpg on a 400 mile trip doing 75-80 with no a/c on the way to Vegas. I also pumped my tires 2 pounds over the 35psi recommended.

I can't believe this thread is still going. Talk about opening a can of worms. Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you guys. I changed my wifes oil on Tuesday. I switched it over to the Valvoline full synthetic 5-20, it had dyno oil from the dealer. Now I have run full synthetic in my diesel for year mainly because the diesel is so rough on the oil and for better cold weather starts. Getting back to my wifes Expy, I was driving it last night. I was picking my son up a school function and I noticed I was getting 18.2 mpg. Prior to this the best I was seeing was about 16 to 16.5 and that was on the highway. I'm pretty impressed that an oil would make show that much of a mileage increase. Next time I do a road trip I'll hand calculated it to get an accurate highway mpg.

It should have had a semi-synthetic from the dealer-unless they were chincing out on it.

I can't believe this thread is still going either. Gas is cheap now, and there really aren't many late model Expys for sale. Prices have actually gone way up on the used ones over the last several months... maybe as production of the new ones gets cranked up the used ones will be easier to find.

According to this dude, he's getting 25mpg. If so, I think he should call "Guinness" and see if they'll put him in their book.

I'd like to call BS on him.. but I'm in no position to buy this vehicle, so what I think doesn't really matter.

Well since he is from Calgary Canada and he is advertising it to have 39,000 kilometers I would imagine he meant 25 kilometers per gallon.
