Nice truck for the money, Dylan, even if it takes a few more $ to get it running good. I sold a 93 F150 Ext. Cab V8 about 2 years ago for ~4K, so you did good.

Wonder how the spark advance is controlled? Manifold vacuum, maybe? See if you didn't damage one of those little plastic vacuum hoses when you BBQ'd the filter and stuff.

If there are no vacuum lines, it may have a direct reading Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) sensor. Check for damage its wires.

You might be able to get some readings from the computer at a local parts shop instead of just throwing parts at it. If the parts shop can't help, maybe a decent mechanic can read the computer and let you do the work.

Good luck!

We can always fling it into the ocean for ya!

Unplug the mass airflow sensor (MAF) and see if it changes for the better. Ford's back up strategies are pretty good. Ain't gonna be perfect, but if it runs much better that's a good start, and the MAF sensors are right by the air filter. I believe the logic in the ecu doesn't need that input for much at wide open, which may explain why flooring it helps.

Wouldn't the MAF also control the idle too? It idles really well. Both in drive and in park, then sometimes when I drop in drive it feels like it wants to die for a split second but then goes back to normal. But I can try that.

not really. I believe that truck also has an idle air control motor that opens and closes a small port to bypass the throttle plate. That would be your major player in that arena.

I've delt with IAC before, it makes me want to convert to carb... it's a pain dealing with electronics, but I plan to get a cheap scanner and try that.

Well, you know mike, if my f150 gets fixed, I can easily "procure" quite a few barrels of whiskey, and follow the bus to the next stop! So it's related... in a very roundabout way.
