Superchips 1815 2008 F150 CC 4x4 4.6
I just got a superchips 1815 for my 2008 F150 in my signature. It is amazing what a canned performance tune feels like over stock. The truck was soooooo gutless and pure slop before dropping out of 4th gear torque converter lockup for the slightest grade straining like heck in 3rd gear unlocked torque convertor on FLAT stretches of Rt.95 going 60mph with my little 19 foot travel trailer that weighs 5500 loaded. I miss the torqueshift transmission that was in my old 2006 F250. The superchips tuner really sharpened up the shifts and made the fly by wire throttle alot more responsive. The truck feels 150% better. I cannot wait to try it towing my travel trailer.
I called superchips they told me over the phone 15hp and 17lbft in performance tune and 6hp 11lbft in tow mode. I selected superchips because I am keeping the stock intake (they are not writing custom CAI programs; I go on a beach with alot of fine sand grains) and I wanted a mild tune that did not require a dash mounted tuner (the gauges in the Evo and Gryphon were tempting though) that I would have to remove when taking the truck to the dealer for service.
I realize that a custom tuned Gryphon/Edge Evo with a good CAI and exhaust would be that much better but, I was looking to increase tranny line pressure and shift firmness and a bit more throttle response without breaking the bank. There are great deals on tuners now.
my .02 cents.
