01 Expedition Window Problems

Hey there. Im new to this forum and looking to fellow members for help. I have a 01 expedition Triton. My power windows dont seem to be working when i have the driver side door closed. but when i open it all the way open, they work just fine. I took off the panel and checked the motor and it works fine. also checked the wires near the hinge ro see if they were cliped but nothing. i also hear a click in the relays when i try to open or close the windows, not sure if thats normal. plz help.

I had a speaker wire do the same thing in that wire loom on my 99 Expy. There might be just enough of an "open" to create the click but not enough to allow the proper amperage to activate. Mine too was the driver door due to its greatest use.

I can see it a big job to fix. I just left mine, knowing I had three other speakers. A little different with you.

Actually, in ur case it might be the wire being pinched or the speaker gone bad. U can check it by connecting the speaker directly to the stereo. Just tap into it and see if its the speaker or the wire. PS: I do audio installations for a living.

Mine did the same as yours. Open the door and I'd get an intermittent signal as I wiggled the door, so I knew the speaker still was good.
That opening and closing/twisting those wires takes it's toll.
I just lived without that speaker. No big deal as I didn't have anything but stock.
Thx.

I would recheck the wires in the bundle going through the hinge area. It is probably an internal wire break (wire breaks but outside plastic doesn't).

What I would do: Open door so window is operating, have someone operate windows while you tug on wires, and see if it quits. Isolate to bad wire and fix.

Well I'm gonna try it. Even if its one wire, would that affect all of the windows???

It could since all the window controls meet at the drivers door.
