What are a set of 3.55 gears worth?
Hi,
I had a 2004, F150 FX4 and upgraded the gears to the 3.73 gears so I could haul a horse trailer. Have since sold the truck on and still have front and back gears, anyone know what they are worth or the best place to sell them? I am in Vancouver. They were swapped out at 68K on the truck.
Thanks

Ah, but list price from a dealer is really quite a bit more than they are worth...
Wrong axle size, but same ratio at www.newtakeoff.com
$140.00 for new gears in the smaller 8.8" axle. I don't believe the 5.4L/9.75" axle trucks came with anything "less" than the 3.55s...so it wouldn't be an upgrade for anyone.
I'd say about $40-50...IF you can find a buyer.

the FX4 only comes with 3.73 gears unless you buy the 20" rims...then it gets 3.55 for some stupid reason
that is what I was thinking also

Somebody with a damaged diff somewhere you just know is looking for parts.
They may not sell in 2 days, but IMO they will sell.
I have lots of parts for sleds, quads, motorbikes, outboards, jetskis etc. and they always sell given a little time, and unless damaged I usually get about 50% of new price, sometimes more.
My pal totalled his 202 F150 with no colission insurance on it when he rolled it.
I told him to part it out.
He did very well selling the parts for a nice little pile of cash....he got about half of new price for both diffs, the tranny, motor, etc.
He eventually sold nearly every undamaged part on the truck, and made enough to pay for about 60% of the newer truck he bought.
Even his bent and dented box and tailgate sold for 20% of new price.
