up dateing pcm
has any one ever heard of having to up date the pcm. or new up dates for it. 1997 f-350 7.3

Dont know too much about that stuff but I belive the 97 has the most updated one. If not a chip can take care of that i belive.

newest is the TDE1. a TW chip will do the same thing i think, but dealer can do it. find out what yours is. remove your parking brake, and look in there to the black cap, and there is a label that will give PCM code.

they said they can up date it with a laptop for 95 dollars. what will the up date do?

depends on your code now. it can make them run better, and shift better

it ups the power, but i would recommend air intake, down pipe, and gauges before the chip. it ups your power dramatically, and helps fuel economy. chip-$400-450, intake-$250ish or less, depending on what route you go, DP-$150 plus installation. pyrometer-$180+install

It helps everything.
lows EGTs and can improve economy.
