Towing Capacity 85 F150
Looking to buy a camper to tow. trying to find my towing capacity is difficult. Can someone help on this.
85 F150 - 300 inline 6 - 4x4 - rear axel ratio 3.55 - GVWR 6250 - 3speed auto trans C6
The max GCWR rating I could find is 10,000 but that was for a 1996, so I subtracted the GVWR of mine from the 10,000 of the 96 which comes to be around 3750 lbs is the max the trailer can weigh. Can anyone verify or correct me on this?
thanks,
Mark

According to the owners manual for my '86, the GCWR for your truck would be 10,000 lbs. To determine the maximum trailer weight, you need to subtract the actual weight of your truck (including passengers and cargo), not the GVWR, from the GCWR. So lets say for example your truck weighs 4200 lbs, then the maximum trailer weight would be 5800 lbs. The maximum trailer weight will change depending on how heavily you have the truck itself loaded.
