Need your advice!
Ok so a couple weeks ago i posted about breaking my door. Well 2 autobody qoutes later it looks like its gonna cost about $1500 to replace the door with a junk door and paint it. Heres where your advice comes in: i found a 95 f-350 up here for $1800. Its white, regular cab, dually, utility body, 4x4, with a 9 foot fisher minute mount plow, auto trans. supposedly rust free, 118,000 miles. Only catch is it doesn't run. Owner says it used to start hard and now it doesnt start. I'm goin with my buddy who drives that 6.0 in my sig to look at it tomorrow. Do you think its worth it? Any ideas on why it wont start.

UPDATE!:
Ok so i went to check out the truck today and it had a few more problems then I thought it had:
1. It's actually a '94 IDI Turbo not a Powerstroke
2. The motor cannot crank at all and the batteries were dead so I couldn't even try it.
3. The intake was off and the owner had been spraying (because he didn't know any better) tons of ether right onto the turbo fins!
4. The 9 foot fisher minute mount plow was in good shape but the plow mounts were bent from an accident beyond fixing.
5. The oil pan was rotted out and needed immediate fixing.
6. Tires were illegally shot.
7. Utility body was rusted out.
8. Was once blue and painted white.
9. Front bumper was rusted through.
There were a couple good things though:
1. The cab was in excellent condition with no rust at all.
2. Brand new auto transmission.
3. 118,000 miles.
What do you guys think? I told him no today. Do you think it's worth it to go back tomorrow and low-ball him? I mean like a max of $900.

I know ether isnt good for them but what exactly does it do to the engine? Although the utility bed is rusted out how hard would it be to save the big heavy duty hitch and bumper and mount a home-made wooden flatbed on it? Did the '94's have the E40D trans? If they didnt wouldnt that new one alone be worth $900? Is there a way to replace the oil pan myself without removing the engine? Im thinking if the injectors areshot i might try stage IIs with the single side stack like butch(oh)'s, 6637 intake and TW chip? How do you think that would do in local sled pulls?

I think the problem with either is if the glow plugs ignite it can cause an explosion, damaging the motor. You can do the oil pan by jacking up the motor, 4x4's are harder to do. Injectors in those IDI's arn't the same as the PSD, if thats what your getting at about doing stage 2's. Didn't think they were computer controlled???? Are they?

Im thinking jacking up the motor would be better for me because it deffinatly isnt worth the $2000 repair bill. The injectors are mechanical and much cheaper but im not sure what they have for performance modifications, especially in a sled pulling situation. You are right a chip wouldn't work so its all up to finding those injectors
