Future Cash Incentives?

The cash rebate on 09' F-150's in my area is $3K. About to expire. What will be Ford's next offer? I bet less for now because last week the head honcho said F-150 sales were brisk due to the "enthusiasts" buyers. However, there were NO signs of buying interest from the construction world. BUT after reading the following article they may stay at $3K???

Ford sees sharp drop in U.S. sales
Friday January 2, 1:28 pm ET

By Kevin Krolicki
DEARBORN, Mich (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co expects industry-wide December U.S. auto sales to drop by some 35 percent from a year earlier with no sign of a turnaround in the first quarter of this year.

Ford, the No. 2 U.S. automaker, expects that full-year sales of light vehicles in the world's largest market will drop to near 13.2 million for 2008, down from near 16.2 million in 2007, Ford's chief sales analyst George Pipas said on Friday.

The only other time the U.S. auto industry has seen a similar 3-million unit plunge in sales over the course of a single year was during 1974 in the wake of the first oil shock, Pipas told reporters

I reckon they will be the same at best. I see my mate who is a salesman and he said sales have been great the last couple of weeks and it seems to be picking up again. Prob due to the great offers on 09 vehicles at the moment.

I think 0.0% ar is a great offer at the moment but $3k discount and invoice priceing means a bargain also.

In my area the papers are reporting that sales of trucks and SUV's are improving mainly due to low fuel prices and lending money being made more readily available. I haven't heard of any rebates on the '09's, only the '08's.
People have short memories. I'm very afraid that fuel will become very expensive once again. My '88 can last indefinately if need be. I don't mind driving an econobox.

They're gone now. NO $3K rebate. No nothing as far as I can read.

Still 3K here they are extended until 1/12. 2K is retail customer cash and the other 1K is A/X/Z/D-plan retail customer cash, plus the x-plan discount if you have it. Comes out to about 7K off after building the Lariat I am going to order hopefully in about a week. Hopefully when my truck comes in the rebates will be at least the same if not higher.

The $3K has just been posted this morning here too. Good until 1/12 also. Why don't they just KEEP it there for the winter and allow us to order a truck knowing the rebate will be good when it arrives?

I guess I will wait until after 1/12 to even think about ordering my truck and hope that the rebates will be good for longer than a week. Hopefully they will be at least the same.

I talked to my sales rep last night about the rebates, and ordering a truck when they are only good for a week. He said the they can guarantee the current rebate and then when the truck comes in you will get that rebate or if there is a better one you will get that one. So they can still do this just depends if you dealer wants to. My guy has been doing this for about 32 years and is the fleet sales manager so I trust what he has to say.

My dealers and wassington area rep said that it's not possible to do that as the rebates come from Ford and not the dealership and when the rebate is over it's final and that current rebates can only be applied when the truck is on the lot. But if your dealer does that for you out of his own pocket then thats great.

Bsimmer 3000, sounds like your dealer is not quite honest with you. Dealers in this area all follow the same procedure that rc6869 said: you get the rebate available at the time of the order, but if the rebate is better at the time of delivery, you get that one. When I bought my '08 I went to four different dealers in the PA-NY-NJ area, and they all said the same thing.

Errmm seems like this area is different then. Just see my mate who is a salesman for them and he said that it's impossible to get the rebates that have already ended as they have to be applied on the sales process and once they end there is no option to apply them. He said he will double check but he has never heard of ford letting people have previous rebates, only the rebates avalible at time of purchase. Not that it made any difference to me as they got better when mine turned up.

my dealer told me that once the vin number for the truck is created that the rebates could be applied. he said the vin is often available weeks before the truck. so once the vin is created the sale can be completed and you can get the current rebate but it would still be several weeks to get the vin.
