Powdered Metal Rods, from 99' to the first of 01', we have forged rods. We can take more HP according to the guys here.
Be careful with that -- guys with supposedly "safe to 500HP" forged rods have daylighted their blocks with barely over 400. Then there are others with PMRs running 400ish with no problems. I'm gonna stop at 375ish here.

Don't worry about it if you're just getting an Edge. You'll be lucky to be making 300.
The 2001 trannys had a mechanical diode that were more prone to failure. When the diode goes, it's time to rebuild your tranny. They switched to in in 01, realized it was no good, and switched back by 02.

No exact answer, but the common opinion is they're good for up around 400 hp. No worries with the edge. You won't even get 300 out of that.

Your rods can take up to 400 HP. You have been here long enough to know that the Edge is not what we use. . Go with the DP-TUNER or TW tuning. These are custom tuning, nothing like the off the shelf Edge.
The diode in the trans isn't an electrical diode it is a mechanical diode. I'm not to sure of the particulars of it though. Others will chime in though.
Instead of an Edge you should consier a http://www.dp-tuner.com/ Jody and Diane are the best and the tuner is custom to your trucks PCM and what you are going to do with or use the truck for.
