If You do a little research, You'll find that the Japanese Gov. kicked in many, many Yen to their domestic auto industry much earlier than our Government did.
The USDM could learn a lot about corporate morals, and responsibility from Japanese corporations. They upper management in Japan are rewarded very well, and live a very lavish lifestyle. But they are much more humble, and accept responsibility for both the good, and the bad.
Not like Americans, who will take as much as they can get, and come back and ask for more. Then when things go bad, blame someone else, and expect someone else to pay for their mistakes.

This thread made me curious about auto exec pay in Japan vs the US. This article is from 2006, but it appears that American auto execs get paid upward of $10-20 million per year, whereas Japanese and Korean auto execs are paid *very well* by my standards and can live a relatively lavish lifestyle on their pay of under ONE million per year:

Union questions auto execs' pay packages - USATODAY.com

Complaining about the UAW getting paid too much in the face of US auto exec pay is laughable.

I think they need to bring back the 92 96 F-150 body style, attractive and lighwieht. make it available with the ne. 5,4 or the 6.2 and keep the interiors simple just like they were back then. the last generation of truly geat all around ford trucks in my opinion. the new ones may haul more and tow more but for all around durability run it till it breaks then drive it home and with good looks, i think these were the best. i still believe ford ha sthe best quality of the big 3 but they are just so damn UGLY! Imho

But just imagine that body style with a 400 horse 6.2? he he!

We all have our faves...I personally like the 1973-79 "dentside" myself, including the good ol' '78 Bronco. I'm biased because of my beloved old '78 pickup, of course. But there was just something so classic and "right" about that vintage.

They went retro with the Mustang (but it did gain a lot of weight due to technology, safety, and luxury gear), so why not do it with the trucks?

Only problem is that people now want a huge back seat in a pickup in which you can fit a 50" TV--the ONE time you bring one home from Best Buy.

And I wonder what any of those old Ford trucks would look like in that rear end hula test video where the Toyota looks like it's gonna break...

Great, I'm "that guy." Did some quick research. Obviously their can't be allot on a 09' model in what I'm about to bring to the table, but;

according to Consumer Reports (well known and respected);

the fusion scored extrememly well for last 3 years (06-08), but in a two year survey of people actually owning the vehicles, when asked if they would by it again, it scored tie for 9th. Beat out by a honda and two toyotas. First 2 places? Toyotas.
Remembering these are actuall owners, not consumer reports opionions.

The F-150?

Tie for 10th. Beat out by 3 different models of the Tundra. With Toyota again taking 1st.

But, you have my hopes up....maybe 09' is a year for improvement.

well, if veryone is so high on honda and yoda, why aren't we discussing this on thier forums instead of a ford enthusiast forum? Why do people come here to sing there praises? I wouldn't hit a dog in the butt with either one. Why doesn't anyone come on the ford site and sing the praises of chevy or dodge? I guess it's because nothing pisses off a ford guy than japanese junk. If these japanese vehicles are so great, stop talking about them and go buy one and leave this site to ford enthusiast. Sounds like a plan to me.

easy killer, i knew there'd be 1. did you read the name of the thread? in order to figure out what Ford needs to do to regain it's "Mojo" one would proably have to discuss what it's doing wrong and what it's competitors are doing right.
wouldn't ya think?
