No, I said the dealer can't get rid of them and therefore doesn't carry them. My dealer doesn't want to carry manuals, they become lot decorations. They have to order to get mine. Thats in the ranger and the super duty, the F-150 no longer as a manual option, maybe the super duty either.

2009 FORD RANGER fx4 off/road, 5-speed manual, torson diff and rancho's!
Valdor, what neck of the woods are you from that you get the euro ranger? Our rangers are available with the torson, which is an awesome gear driven lsd. I perfer it over a locker for it's road manors and it grabs like a bear in the dirt. Ford has been testing a super duty with front and rear electric lockers, it's to rival the dodge power wagon. Also the raptor has a rear locker than can be engaged at any speed. You can still get a manual tranny in a super duty, but not much longer cause they don't sell enough to run 2 lines. The auto manufactures don't care which tranny people want as long as they sell trucks. There's hardly anyone wanting a manual anymore, my dealer says they can't move a manual off the lot and it's a small town country dealer, you would think manuals would do well there. I have to order my trucks from them to get a manual.Yes it is across the board with all manufactures, because they all have the same experience, people want automatics. I don't like it, but I understand thats the way it is. People don't know how or are too lazy to shift anymore. A lot of kids that are in the car buying market now don't even know how to drive a manual. The manuals will be left to the gas sippers, the new fiesta will have a 6 speed manual option.
Wendell hi,
I am from South Africa, and we mainly (exclusively) get Ford vehicles from there Euro branch and a few from Aus. Sadly none from the US unless you import them yerself and many times be forced to do the rite hand conversion since we drive on the wrong side of the road as you guys will say. We (luckily) still get mainly manual tranny's but i see that accross the board auto's are beieng implemented. I think, manufacturers figure if you give 'em some thing we want them to buy (long enuff), eventualy they'll quit wining and get used to it. The last F250 we got(2005-2008) was only available in manual trans. Looks aside i think you would barely recognise it as it had an i6 Tdi. Made in Brazil. Ihonestly feel agitated in a auto tranny car, i keep pushing an in vissable clutch lol.
[quote=Saleenguy;7004267]I would love to be able to order electric lockers front and rear from ford.
A 6 speed manual to.
But ford gives us the crap they seem to wantto peddle, not what we really want.

I don't know whats up with the way ford thinks. I was messing around on Fords site build/pricing F-150s. They have the new locker on the 09' but you can't get it in an XLT. I'm an XLT guy and don't need/want a fancy truck and the all painted FX4 looks like poo to me. Also with the 09' 150 if you want 3.73 gears you have to get the Max Tow package with tons of other crap and they charge over $2500 for it. Why can't Ford offer the locking diff and rear gears as a standalone option.

You and I think exactly alike right down to the plain XLT. I hate painted bumpers and grills. You have to get the SD at this point and time to get the stand alone 3.73.1 option as most come with it anyway. Just depnds on wheather you get the LS or open diff. My local dealer has a few SD's on the lot with open diff's and I thought, "what idiot would do that"?

I love this thread!!! Just my 2 cents worth I think Ford needs to focus on making cars with higher MPG with a price tag that makes it affordable. Rule of thumb if your lowest paid employees can't afford to buy the product they make the company will go under as that is a huge part of a company's consumer base. I agree with fewer models but I think trim packages and such need to be kept fresh and plentiful as individuality is a human need.

It would be a wonderful thing if someone from the management of this site could package it up and deliver it to someone at Ford Motor Company, someone that could would and will use this information freely given by multiple long time customers of the Ford Motor Companies product.
Customers that bleed Blue Oval, can the current management of Ford Motor Company say the same or are they just thre for the quick pay check and gone.
Rick.

Ford needs a better union and one that don't protect lazy, incompetent, hazardous people. The people that need protecting are the reliable, hardworking people that makes their company efficient.A very efficient company makes money, not loose it to incompitence.I don't know alot about unions, but the one I always hearing about is the uaw.Maybe someone can fill me in with some info about unions because I own a hvacr and plumbing company and thought about going union, but with the things I have been hearing and keep in mind I live in the St.Louis area and know where the Crysler plant in Fenton Mo is and I have talked to people who have worked there tell me the uaw isn't all that great.I have seen that plant idled because of a strike. The Fenton Mo plant make the trucks and the mini-vans if any one is wondering. The ford union Idea I have is just an opinion.I think if they and the uaw work better together, maybe alot of the inefficientcies will go away. For those who like unions,no offense to you,but I don't want other people telling me how to do thing with my company. If my employees do what they are told and not do shotty work or violate E.P.A regulations and have their freon certification and be presentable for home and bussinuss owners, their job is protected and will always be there and they don't need a union for that.

There was a time when unions were sorely needed. I can remember as a child when my mother worked in a shoe factory, and was a member of the Boot & Shoe Workers Union. This was in the late 40s, early 50's. The working conditions were not so good, and the union served a purpose.
Today, it mostly protects the incompetent. I have worked in both union (IAM, IBEW, etc) and non union shops over a 40+ year span. I could see little that any union did for me but collect dues. I had my best working conditions in the places where everything was decided on merit, not union rules. In fact, on my last job, it was the union who called me in and gave me a choice of taking a 50% pay cut to be a groundskeeper, or take a layoff. It was company management who went to bat for me, and did an end run around the union to keep me employed. It was utterly disheartening to see the older (seniority wise) workers and how they took advantage of the company. I can't tar and feather all unions, but I can report my experiences.

' Passed the exam today! I am now a licensed instigator!
how about a retro f150 that resembles a 78-79 square headlight truck.
the 05 later retro styled mustangs were a big hit.
a retro f-series truck would be super cool
I think a retro truck as a play toy would be a great idea. Lets get real nostalgic and go back to 1956. Baby moon hub caps, wooden bed, bubble fenders aith real steps. Think of the modern day customizing possibilites that a little truck like this could present. No 4x4, if anything, it should be lower with fat tires, factory duals, tons of chrome and cool paint options. A real cruiser.

Forget the 56 and stick with the 78/79 but give a factory option for square or round head lights.
Like I said before thou Ford and the other American auto makers have lost the fun factor and now car and truck building can only be very serious business, please no *SMILING*.
If we see any happy workers they will have to be dealt with in a serious manner LOL.
Rick.
