Looking for pic of defroster switch
Hi all, i just upgraded my mirrors to power/heated/turn signals.... well, i wired the heater to an aftermarket rear window defroster switch that i already had installed.... im wondering though if someone can post a pic of their OEM switch.... i have the "non electronic" heater controls, and would like to see what the OEM switch looks like.
Thanks !!
Thanks !!

Yes you can. Even if your truck did not come with heated mirrors all the wires are there. You just need the heater control and new passenger fuse block to make it work

wow... this i did not know ! you wouldnt happen to have the part numbers for the fuse block, and the electronic controller would you?
so how does the automatic temp controller work? does it have an internal temp sensor? all the wiring plugs are the same?
and with the new fuse block, i just have to add a fuse to the new block, but all the wiring to the fuse block is the same?
thanks for all of your help !

FUSE BOX W/ HEAT

yes all the plugs will plug right into the new one. Also the new fuse block comes already with all fuses and relays in place. When I did did mine I hand too take like 2 or 3 out for items I did not have like power seats etc. Just check the placement of the new against the old. The heat takes a 10amp fuse, 30amp fuse, and a relay to work.
The mirrors you put on.....does everything work in them besides the heat?
here are few pics of them when I did mine.
old/new fuse block
Where is goes...everything just plugs right back in. only three nuts hold it in to place, one in the back and two up front.
heater control taken out
back side
also the new fuse block comes with a new power cable to the batt. as you see in the first pic. Just unbolt the one already in place from the current fuse block and reuse.

I think he was talking about the electronic auto HVAC that comes in the Lariat model. I don't think that is a direct swap into the STX/XLT/FX4. And the shapes are different too so you would need a new center dash bezel too.

well i already have the heated mirrors working (this was not a plug and play.... i had to run new wires for the heaters, and also for the blinkers). my stock power mirrors had a plug with 4 wires (for movement only), and the new mirrors needed 8 total. i used an existing aftermarket rear window defroster to activate the mirror heaters, so thats why i was looking at possibly adding the new heater controller to make it all look factory.
thanks for all of the help guys.

Do the 2008 extendable trailer towing mirrors have a "standard" mirror on the passenger side? In other words not the type that says "objects appear farther away than they actually are". I need to replace my passenger side mirror because it is not dependable to rely on when passing someone when towing a trailer.
