Question about Auto meter water temp gauge.

Hello all,
I am installing a F 650 lower dash pannel right now and I am installing a water temp gauge but when I put the temp sender into the aux port on the sid of the water pump the fitting leaks no mater how hard I tighten it.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Nick

Is it leaking from around the threads or from the sending unit wire? Did you use thread sealant on the threads before installing it?

there should be an adapter fitting that the guage wire screws into and screws into water port ,that is what makes the seal

Ultra Lite Coolant Temperature 120-240 Degrees, 4333
Includes 12 ft. tubing.
Includes 1/2"" NPT adapter/fitting

Yes you should have a mounting nut(adapter) and a sealing nut the mounting nut goes into the port and the sealing nut screws into the mounting nut.

There is an adapter that that screws into. Let me see I might have a picture of one. It is called an NPT fitting.

EDIT:

This is an Autometer 3/8" NPT fitting.

Because that one has a tapper to it that fits in the mounting nut and seals the connection. the mounting nut seals the port.
