335 vs. 385 motor mounts

Mark a. Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to make my own frame mounts then, no problem though. Just thought the if the 400 motor mounts were the same as the 429/460 then I could use some aftermarket frame mounts. BTW nice F250. I took my 351m out of my 79 Bronco and stroked it with help from Tim Meyer.

Let me add to this. the mount to the block itself has the same bolting pattern using 3 bolts. (correct me if I'm wrong) However, the 385 series block is wider at that location, so putting on 335 series motor mounts means they sit outward too far. 385 series motor mounts in a complete set-up are 3 pieces in a 70's truck... including frame perches.
Now, the 335 series Cleveland uses small block motor mounts. The 351M/400 doesn't, but using their motor mounts will locate the engine the same as a small block. IE: using a small block frame perch will work for the 351M/400....it's just knowing what the perches are designed for. I believe the Tubular crossmember, (such as CPP) uses later 70's Tbird mounts. That is why they sell the kit with a different part number than that for the small block and C.

Here is what I am trying to do. I have the 351m motor (stroked) and I have boxed the frame from the front original crossmember over the Jag IFS to the rear crossmember right in front of the old original axle. I now have a Mark VIII IRS in place. I have not been able to find 351m/400perches to weld/bolt to the frame. I will probably make my own perch mounts and use the original motor mounts that came on the 351m. If you have any suggestions I will like to here them.
Thanks for your information

Best I can do right now is provide a couple pics of mine. I used late 70's f150 4x4 perches to set the engine to see how it would look. Notice the built in offset with the perches centered on the frame. Secondly, I aligned it fore and aft with a T19 4 speed (tailshaft lengths vary) that centered itself on the original trany crossmember....which is why I started to go with the F2 crossmember, but never got pics of it. The pic with the ruler was how I "leveled" it sideways and shows where the perches held it. Pretty even with oilpan top. You may want it to sit higher or lower, I don't know, but atleast these pics might give you some ideas. Since I did this, I bought 79 Tbird mounts, and compared them to my 76 Torino 351W mounts, and they look like they locate the same. I have also taken this motor, and set in my 83 F250 4x4 that had a 302, and the 351M mounts dropped right in place. Facts and figures say the lower half of the block's dimensions are the same as a Windsor, and that Ford used a 3 bolt mount due to the added weight. I'm currently putting this engine into my 87 Tbird, and is in one of the other threads here on this forum. Good luck!!!

Thanks a bunch for the pictures. I was going to use the original mounts from my 79 Bronco but It would set the engine to high. When I get it mounted I will post some pics in my gallery for viewing.
May the new year be better than the last.

ok, thanks Mark. Still has 3 bolts though, right?
I mentioned to correct me if I'm wrong because I had read before that they also had 3 bolt mounts. I assumed they were the same pattern. I have not looked at 460 mounts to know first-hand. But I've done enough research on the 400 to make myself batty, lol.
