1951 F-1 Stake body

I am starting a restoration of a 1951 F-1 Stake Body. The truck has been in the family over 30 years. The stake body is rough. I am looking for another stake body. Does anyone know of any sources out there. Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to FTE. Well, I have a couple of questions. First are you just looking for the back stake bed? Or, are you looking for some of the body parts as well?

Can you post a couple pictures of your truck fo rus?

That would be cool.

Again Welcome....Glad to have you here!

Julie

First, welcome to board. Second, enter your location in the upper right hand corner of your posts, you can do this via your "User CP", just search around, it's basically the same procedure you used to enter your handle.

The reason I mentioned the location is because when you post that you're looking for help or a part it's a lot easier for someone to be willing to help if they know where you're located. In the case of this post you mentioned you were looking for a replacement bed for your F-1. At one time Northern Classic trucks made reproduction stake beds for all sized trucks from F-1 to F-8. They stopped making them a few years ago. But I know a while back a member of this board, '52 F-3 , was trying to sell a brand new bed for real cheap and had no takers.

I don't know if he was able to sell it but you could contact him. Here's the best part, according to his user profile, he's located in south central PA. I looked at your profile and you listed your location as PA, you're probably close enough to pick up the bed if he still has it. If he sold the bed you could contact Chuck, at Chuck's Trucks, www.chuckstrucksllc.com. He might be able to give you a lead on a bed. He told me he worked with Northern on developing the beds they made so he might know where some are, I don't know this for sure though.

BTW, you don't have a enough post to PM '52 F-3 so I'll shoot him a PM and let him know about this thread, if he hasn't already seen it.

Bob, Thank you for your reply. I am located in SE PA. I will update my profile. I spoke to Chuck about a year ago and he indicated that he had 5-6 interested parties and he would speak with Northern. He felt certain that he could have them built. I checked with him a bit ago and only one was made for a larger truck. Thank you for emailing the other member about the inquiry. Steve

52 F-3 Thanks for the reply thru bobj49f2. I am just east of Morgantown in Glenmoore, PA. Not very far from you. I need some 16" rims. My father ran 15" and I would like to restore back to original. Let's keep in touch. I have just started the tear down. I removed the stake body and I am going to start the front end this weekend. At your convenience let me know what parts you have for the F-1 and what you are asking for the rims. I can be reached off line at smullen17@verizon.net. Thanks, Steve
