I am considering getting a cowl induction hood scoop for my f150. It would probably be 3.5 or 4" tall. I was wondering if this style of scoop looks good on the new body style trucks? Thanks.
I'd suspect a cheap steel one would be in the $500-700, where as good glass should run $1000-1500. Reflexxions, Goodhood, SunCoast Creations, Keystone Hoods all come to mind. I've worked with the Guys at SunCoast and they make a pretty nice hood, but they are in the $1000-1300 range.
Unless you know what your doing with the reinforcement and welding, it would be simpler to use a premade cowl induction hood. Adding a scoop and removing enough hood to make it function can cause the hood to warp some and become a bit unwieldy.
If they are good, then can probably reinforce the section they remove and build a cold air box. However, I think you'd be further ahead finding someone who's done the R&D on it and has spread that cost around. I don't know what you want for a finished product, but I believe a fiberglass hood or a production built steel hood will give you more strength and better fitment/durability than a hack job.
