Question Which Wiring harness for 01 SuperDuty?

I just ordered a new Prodigy Brake Controller for my 01 F250 Super Duty. However, I am running into a wall trying to figure which harness to order.

I would like to order the right harness so as to utilize my trailer connector plug under the dash, thus saving me from having to tapping into my trucks wiring system.

<O
When I go to a ordering site, and look for the correct harness, this is what comes up for Ford:<O

So, seeing as I do own a “Super Duty”, and it is a 2001, is there a wiring harness available, and if so, what part number is it?

Above chart has me at a loss!!!!!

Thank you,

Where is the plug located under dash? Is it capped off?

Hello Hanklin:

The plug is located both under dash & behind the dash. Here is a link to a photo, provided by Aklim:

As you can see, it looks to be a PITA to get to.

Not sure about part numbers, but I can tell you my buddy gave me the OEM Ford plug out of his '01 F150 and it fit the plug under the dash behind the brace on my '01 F250 SD. Was very simple to wire that plug to the wiring on my Prodigy and just plug into the wiring harness under the dash.

BTW forgot to mention, the brake controler plug is not that hard to get out. It is held in place by a plastic push-in tab. If you can get your fingers up underneath it you can feel the tab sticking thru. Just use a drift punch or the handle end of a screwdriver and push up on the tap. Might take a little tap to get it moving.

Exclamation

Flybaby:

How difficult was it to insert the plug into the receptacle? It certainly looks to be a PITA to reach (at least with my fat fingers).

I pulled my Ford factory harness (with relays & fuses) out of the glovebox, and will plan on using it, rather than finding the correct Prodigy harness. I would have rather paid the extra $12.00 and bought a harness made for the Prodigy, but that just isn’t happening!

Thanks,

Richard
