This is probably too fundamental question for this forum, but to replace the ball joints (upper and lower) on my F150, is it necessary to utilize a pickle-fork to release the tapers from the assembly?

Is your truck 2 or 4 wheel drive?? i know on my 95 f150 4x4 i had to have a special socket to use to get a nut out.(not sure if that is what your talking about) if your truck is 4x2 then im not for sure. hope this helps

Thank you for the website url. Looks like not much more than the combination of drive universal joint replacement coupled with standard ball joint r&r. Thanks again and will be reporting on progress after Saturday's work.
