Smile 6.0l help needed

So Ive read a years worth of info on the 7.3 vs 6.0 and other than the normal "mines better than yours" they are both good engines, as long as the repairs are done on the 6.0.

My question is,

1. 6.0 needs stronger head bolts?

is this all other than minor, normal fixes?

the reason is I like the turning radius in the newer coil sus. trucks, and the "instant" power. I drive a 06 at work with the 6.0 and its a champ, and it takes a beating.

sorry for the bla bla bla but iam new to this and any help is appreciated.

thank you.

ps i do plan on a 24v swap but not for a long time.

What do you want to do with the truck, tow a fifth wheel all the time? Daily Drive with a tow here and there? Race/pull? That will narrow it down pretty quick.

Also there's a mod you can do to get the turning radius down on the older models.

The number one "Achilles Heal" IMO of the 6.0 isn't even the headbolts, its the cooling system being plumbed in series leading to the domino or snowballing type of failures. Diesels made before the EGR age are much more tolerant of poorly maintained cooling systems and the 6.0 is probably the least tolerant of the lot.

You would enjoy an 05 or newer truck then. 03 and 04 had too many issues. you should be alright without head studs unless you start towing a lot or doing mods.
