any of you guys ever have a full sized bronco?I looked at one a few months ago,but it was rusted beyond fixing.theres a few around but pricey and I'm not totally sure what year I want to go with.my ideal would be a 78/79 but those are even harder to find around here that aren't rotted to death.

 

Same here Fred, not much ever shows up and what does has at least some rust issues and to me they all seem to be over priced.

 

I have noticed the slight over pricing of them.I guy about 400 kms from me had the one that was rotten beyond fixing,he told me it came from alberta and only had some light surface rust on it.my brother in law grabbed the ps quarter panel and took most of it of with his hands.I was less then impressed.I did find one in maryland in the classifieds on here,decent price and in pretty good shape,and a good price.just the 1000 mile trip to get it.I will probably wait till the spring when I get my current 4x4 cleaned up,painted and sold,I best not say what it is in fear of being disowned lol.

 

That would be a fair trip alright and it sucks with the poor US exchange rate to boot.
Hopefully it`s in decent shape, maybe try to get one of the FTE members to have a look at it for you before you set out to get it.

 

There's lots out here in BC. Some are rusty, some aren't. Pretty much everything from 78 to 96, 300 I6 to 460, and everything in between. Priced from $500 to $15000.

 

I saw a few on kijiji in bc,but the states is closer to me so it will probably be easier for me to get one down there,hard to say,I don't mind doing minor sheetmetal work on one as long as the floor and frame were good.but I would rather find something that was fairly rust free.the guy with the bronco in maryland sent me lots of really good pictures of the truck all around and its solid for 2500.its an xlt,real decent looking horse.

 

Sounds like a good one. Is it drivable or would you trailer it back?

I would probably trailer it back,I imagine it would make the 1000 mile trip but I'm not a huge fan of being lost and broke down,and I'll gaurantee that I'll be lost as I can get at least once on a trip like that.

 

That sounds like me Fred, I`m the first to get lost though not too bad on the broke down part, usually.
Has Rick got a stash of spare Bronco parts Chad? It could be real handy to know.

 

you know what one of them old things would be like after sitting,first it would be a wheel cylender,then a stuck caliper,then probably a wheel bearing gone on the highway
usually how things go,but my father and I have a good goose neck trailer and a truck to pull it with so that will probably what I would do.I wouldn't drive an old rig like that too far until I got to give a good once over.

 

Good point, no use pushing your luck on a long trip if you have a truck and trailer available. It`s usually out of the question with a vehicle that has sat for awhile.

 

well odds are that it would probably be fine,but why chance it.I'm not set on buying that one,but its the best I've seen so far for the money.I friend of mine has a 95 full sized one but he doesn't know what he's doing with it yet.so I may get a good deal on that,who knows.can't get a straight answer from the guy.

 

Yeah, he's bought a couple rusty ones, salvaged the good and scrapped the leftovers.

 

well if I by one I'm going to get one as good as I can,save me some work.
