glow plugs and dead batteries

ok ive been having problems with my work truck not starting on cold mornings. i checked all the gp's to see if they were good and all was fine. i checked further into the system to find out that the gpr was toast, so i went ahead and changed it. after putting relay on it still didnt click, like it wasnt getting any juice. after a few minutes of checking wire and using a test light i discovered that the plug for the gpr had a bad connection. after cleaning plug, gp's work when you turn the key on but didnt turn off resulting in dead batteries. what could cause the gp's to come on but not turn off. what ever it is must have been what caused the previous gpr to crap out. every bodies oppinion welcome.

If the GP's came on but stayed on and would not turn off , thats very very bad,,,,,,,, could melt the gp into the head.......... A bad relay can get stuck in the on position and continuiously power the gp's.......

i just put a new relay on it yesturday.

Maybe you got a bum relay or the wrong relay the pcm controls how long they stay on by grounding out the relay maybe there is a short elsewhere in the wires perhaps you need a new plug on the harness.

its either the new relay is bad or the pcm power wire (small one) has a constant signal. a simple test light will tell you where the problem is.
