1997 F-150 Fuel Filter
I had my truck at a Ford dealer today for some service work. I asked about replacing a fuel filter. The service manager said I needed a special tool and that I probably couldn't do the work myself because the fuel system had to be depressurized. Can some comment on this service guy's recommendations. Fuel system depressurization? Huh?
BTW, they charge .7 hrs of shop time to replace filter....... $51.99
Thanks,
Tyman

yup, the system has to be depressurized, and yup, you can do it yourself, just as the last post says. However, be aware that a "check engine" light may come on when doing this, much as it can come on if you drive with the gas cap not locked properly.
As for the .7 hours of labor, Ford says that job should only take .4 hours!
