won't start

96 e350,7.3 won't start.I keep blowing a 30 amp fuse (the big one in the engine comp. second one from front) it controls the glow pgs and fuel inj. I think. I have new glow plugs. It ran fine yesterday. The temp here is in the 50's.when the fuse blows, the dash wait to start light don't work.Any ideas on what to check?

I will try that.Have you expereanced the same problem? Is the fuel heater bad to cause the fuse to blow? I had the same problem last year and it just went away.Worked all summer. When the weather turns cooler it is hard to start.I know its not good but it will only start with a light shot of starting fluid, but now with the fuse blowing,it wont start at all.

The connections on the fuel canister are as follows ...

Top connector you can see easy is the fuel restriction sensor, drivers side.
Next one down is the fuel heater connector .. that is the one you want to unplug. It has a spade type plug, like a speaker connection. If the heater in the filter canister shorts, and it is quite common, it blows fuse #22 which controls lots of thing, like the PCM. Just unplug it and replace the fuse and you should be good to go.
