aw c'mon , mine is goin' completely 12 here real soon and despite wanting to retain the generator , which i have under the bench , and a really rough 12 volt one from that pos 1 ton i parted , im gonna stick with the alternator for a bit longer . i'd go 4bbl , and not no gawd darned rassa frassin ' *#@^+&#@%^ holley !!im gonna do another slightly " grey " thing and put a rochester 2 jet on mine and maybe use the 94 for batting practice ..........

Yeah Ross, once you start DOWN that slippery slope...... The darkside strangles you... LOL
If I switch to an alternator... I'm thinkin that then takes me to 12 V.. which then means switching everything over to 12...
I am still trying to stay stock. Hopping the engine is just my teenage years calling NOT THE DARKSIDE.... Luke... RESIST.

I always have trouble copying pictures into a reply but there are a few good pictures in my gallery of my 52 flathead, 4" crank and dual Strombergs with the original generator converted to 12 volts. Have a look. I have got stalled working on it and need a boost or a boot.
Good luck
Good luck
The key to gaining clearance for a gen is to stay away from "Super Dual" manifolds. They position the carbs more evenly over the intake ports, at the expense of clearing the gen. But, the 4-bbl is still a better option.

That engine is COOL...
I was talking to my engine guy and he thinks we should go with 3 2's. He will set the linkage up to run on the middle one, until you goose it for higher RPM's. I too am looking at looks, as opposed to performance. I'm NOT gonna be racing this thing... and at the local cruise in, you just sit there with the hood open.... The 3 2's will work (or so I've learned in my research) with an offset bracket for the generator.
What type of headers do you have on there?

Steve
They are Sanderson center dump headers with a ceramic like coating, they look good but were a pain to put on. I had to replace the oil dipstick with a Lokar model and it had to be modified to work. I like the 3 carb set up as well but I don't like the alternator adaption even though it would work better.
