Need Mechanical Check in Houston

I'm seriously considering buying a 7.3 Excursion in the Houston area, would anyone recommend a place that knows their stuff that would do a thorough inspection? Thanks!

Welcome to FTE. Try asking the same question up in the 99-03 7.3 section. There are a few members there from the Houston area that may be able to help you out. Until then, here's some things you can look at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...questions.html

Thanks Chris, I had David Lott at DI Performance in Houston check it out before I bought it. Engine and Transmission look good, just have a little rattle/clanking sound when I hit a bump coming from the front drivers side. I think it might be a swaybar bushing but am going to bring it in to have it checked out.

I waxed it today and boy its orders of magnitude more work to do the X compared to my sedan! I'm trying really (sorta) hard to resist the urge to tinker with it but I am thinking about Intake/Exhaust and some headlights for it. Not sure if I want to put a chip in it, the truck has 194k miles on it and not sure if the transmission will hold up or not since I have no maintenance history on it.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm really enjoying the X and the kids love it too!

If David says it's good, then you should be in good shape. If you decide to start tinkering with it, be sure to read up on things in our 7.3 section. Intake, exhaust, gauges, a shift kit, are things you should consider before buying a chip. And nothing against DI Performance, buy if you want a chip, I'd look at Tony Wildman (Total Diesel Performance) in Fort Worth or Jody Tipton (DP-Tuner). They are the leaders in chips for the 7.3.
