I swapped the clutch fan on my 2000 f150 with an electric fan. I made sure not to splice into the alternator line so I wouldnt fry the ecu. Truck ran fine to the store, then would not start. it cranks but doesnt start. All instraments, radio, fuel gauge, works but the odometer reads straight lines across. Ford says i need a new computer because i hooked into the alternator and it cooked the computer. they wont fax me the estimate with the part number. Any ideas if i should do it?? I think they are being dishonest with me.
Welcome to FTE mrluke! Try swapping the fuel pump relay with the PCM power relay in the battery junction box under the hood. If the instruments come back but the fuel pump doesn't work then you know you have a bad relay. Good luck!

good thinking, i did test all the relays thinking it may be the control module relay. they all work. I really appriciate the help. Money is tight and the dealer wants $1100 to fix it.
