You beat me to it. I was about to post the same. Frankly, I'm surprised, but I haven't driven an 08 F150. My Dad has an 08 Silverado and I'm not impressed.

That is kind of surprising. But good for Ford.
It beat out the Camry by over 60K units

F150-473,933
Silverado-431,725
Ram-229,222
Camry-411,342

We'll still have to wait and see what happens. Most of the mo's tallied don't include the big drop in the economy.

My guess is, with almost every news story, they have it wrong. I am guessing that should say F series. Last year they only sold a little over 2 million vehicles total, this year should be even less and I doubt 1/4 or more are F150's.

No...that seams about right....they sold 800,000 or so Fseries last year....the majority of them F150's.....so figure 550,000 last year....480,000 this year....makes sense....

currently, the F series is the 5th selling vehicle in the US and dropping still. You can add in all the months of 08 but it does not tell the story of what is actually occuring.

I'm wondering what the lineup will be when the dust settles.....how far will the F-150 fall on that list? I'm no consumer trend expert, but after the drivers who don't really need or want a full size pickup have bailed, numbers should level off.

The SUV market is different....more & more soccer moms will decide as long as a vehicle meets their actual needs and is fuel efficient, who cares if it's the flavor of the month?

Another factor at work here is that with money & credit tightening, we are going to see a trend towards consumers hanging onto their vehicles longer. Perhaps you will disagree, but with the reliability of today's vehicles, and considering the "depreciation curve," I think it makes a lot of sense to postpone that new car purchase (but I can see how if eveyone agreed it would just make the overall market get worse).

the article showed that if you added all the months since 1-1-08 it was higher than 75% of what the gm factories actually made (the reality is - since the chevy and GMC are identical save badge, they are the same vehicle)

but in the last few months, far more people have fled the ford fullsize than the chevy fullsize

We know vehicle sells are off because the economy sucks, thats across the board for all auto makers. The F series should do better now with gas prices down. People didn't stop buying them becuase they were junk, they stopped becuase of high gas prices and the economy is in the crapper. Any way you slice it, it's a good thing for ford. People will allways need trucks, just not soccer mom's anymore.
